Lucky little kid

We had a group of people over yesterday, over 20, to celebrate Caden's first birthday. It makes me so happy to see how loved he is. He's a lucky kid! His grandma from Calgary was even able to be here for it. His official birthday is on thursday (3rd) and we'll be having another party on saturday in Estevan. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Caden got to have his first real taste of cake which he seemed to enjoy. Here's a few pictures. You might notice that he had to have a change in shirt after his cake!

Fun times

Caden and I are having a lot of fun these days. Spring is really here and we are enjoying being outside. Caden loves to be outside and we probably went to the park 5 or 6 days out of the past 7. I love it. GIRLS NIGHT OUT - Plus, last friday 11 girls went to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet at the Arts Centre which was really great. Justin got to spend some time with Caden and I got to not spend some time with Caden. I love him and everything but Justin has been working ALL THE TIME and so it's been me and Caden 24/7. I was glad for the change in scenery. Also this past weekend we had a couple of bbq's and got to see lots of friends. Caden and Kellen (Muirhead) got to know each other a little bit more too. So ya - lots of fun times for Caden and I. This is not a fun time for Justin so pray that this project gets done soon and he can have his life back. Oh - and here is a picture of my and Amy's new best friends :)

Babies Don't Keep

A good friend gave me a book "What kids need most in a mom". Here's a little poem that I thought was good. - For all you moms of babes out there. Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow...... For babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow..... So, quiet down cobwebs.... Dust, go to sleep.... I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep. (Anonymous )

YEE HAW!!!

My husband is the best. He came home last night and surprised me with a night in Edmonton and tickets to the Tim and Faith concert. Pretty good tickets too!! He even arranged for grandma mooney to watch Caden (OVERNIGHT!). Bless you grandma!! :) I am incredibly excited. It is going to be so much fun. I had been kind of glum because initially we had decided not to go. We didn't really know how it would work with Caden and getting days off and everything. And then we saw an interview with Tim where he mentioned that this is probably the last time they will get a chance to tour together because the kids are getting to where they will want to be home with their friends in the summers (possibly a marketing ploy but how do we know for sure?). I gave up on it but Justin looked after everything, even booking the hotel room for after the concert. We'll even get a few more days of holidays in before the concert which will be a real bonus. SO YAY! and I just have to say it -------- Live l

I have a headache

I have a headache. I have had a headache for a week. I hate it! It's amazing to me how this headache can make me not want to see anyone, go anywhere or do anything. It has made me short tempered and tired. I tried to nap with Caden this afternoon but it wasn't dark enough and they are doing some sort of construction down the street. Imagine my short temperedness then! SO anyway - this grumpy and somewhat depressed state I have been in this week makes me angry at myself. I believe that you make your own life. So if you are complaining - you are your own complaint department. It is no one else's fault and no one else is going to fix it for you. What that means then is that I need to get up off my whiny butt and do something about it. That's all fine and dandy until your body (or head in this case) betrays you and distracts you from what you know best. I can only imagine what it must be like for people who suffer with chronic pain. I'd be a basketcase. I am so grateful

Easter Weekend

We didn't do anything Easterish this weekend - just had a quiet time at home. Caden did get a new 'easter' outfit though. no pictures of that as of yet. Here's a few other pictures though. This is Caden taking down his dad. Way to go buddy!

Lately

Caden turned 11 months this week. He marked the occasion by walking across the living room unsupported. He also marked this week by being up too much in the night. He was up from 130 - 5 am on sunday night and for an hour around 3 am monday and tuesday night. Then last night he was up at 12, 2, 3 and 5. So if this blog has spelling mistakes, makes no sense at all or is suddenly interesting - you'll know why! Yesterday was my first huge scare with Caden. Sometimes when we are out shopping I will lay him down in the cart so that he can have his bottle (he still hasn't figured out how to drink sitting up). Well, I learned a hard lesson because I turned around and in 2 seconds he had discarded his bottle, stood up and somehow ended up on the floor in Home Depot. I was terrified to say the least. He cried a whole bunch and was then fine and has been fine now for 16 hours. I have no idea how he managed to do that or how he landed in a way that he has not a single mark on h
