Just the 6 of us now

I haven't blogged for a few days. It's been busy around here! But lots of fun. I'm feeling very tired tonight and will likely go to bed soon! We had a fun weekend with Justin's mom and Adam and Trinda and their kids. Trinda took some pictures for us again. Keep watching and I'll post some when I get them - it'll be a couple of weeks likely. Caden had SO much fun with his cousins, as he always does. They just go downstairs and we don't hear from them for a long time. Just some laughing and an occasional scrap. The triplets are eating ALOT and we're seeing them continue to fill out and get heavier. Things are going well. Justin's mom went home tonight so it's just the 6 of us this week. Justin is taking some holidays now. It'll be a nice time together. I'm looking forward to it but I know it'll be tougher now that our overnight help is gone. A baby is crying and Caden needs to be put to bed soon so I have to go.... Here

3 hrs!!

I don't know what to think of "the secret" - you remember the book and movie and all the rage? There's something to it but how much? Anyway - I wrote this morning on this very blog that I would love more than 2 hours of sleep at one stretch. Within 20 minutes I was back in bed and stayed there for 3 hours!! WOO HOO! Thank you grandma Mooney!! :)

Why I am tired

Some of you are wondering what it is like to feed triplets. It's a pretty busy job. Nights are the hardest obviously and so far I've had lots of help. This was my night last night (and this is with help at each feeding): Babies ate from : 10 pm - 11 pm I slept from 1130 til about 1am (1.5 hrs) then from 1:10 - 2:00 am but Liam was awake until 2:40. I slept from 2:40 - 3:30 (50 minutes) - that's when Evan and Liam fussed and woke me up. Luckily they settled back down and I slept from 3:40 - 4:45 (1 hr and 5 min). All the boys ate again from 4:45 - 615 or so. I slept from 615 until 650 (35 min). 6:50 is when Caden woke up. The babies are still sleeping but Caden has me up. So - after tallying up those times - I slept 4 hours broken up into 4 separate increments. Ouch. And that pretty much describes each night this week. Except one night the beginning of the week you have to throw in an episode of Caden waking up crying at 1230 at night. So ya - SLEEPY! Luckily Judy

Due date and tummy time

Today, Nov. 26th, was our original due date. They always use two birthdays for multiples when considering development. They have their age by birthdate and then their age based on due date. That would mean that anything they have done so far is bonus !! They are lifting their heads some now and focusing much better. We went to the doctor today for a checkup. We once again loaded the babies into the van which takes Justin 2 trips since I still can't lift anything that heavy and headed out. When we got there we were reminded what a novelty we are. Many people, just in the waiting room, asked questions and wanted to see the babies. Then the doctor wanted us to take a picture of him holding the boys. It was cute. He had never had triplets for patients before and wasn't sure he would again so he thought he'd like to have a picture. Funny. The babies are all looking good. Liam has a tiny bump on the back of his head that I was wondering about but he didn't think i

Christmas Traditions

Tonight one of my dreams came true. I am that person who loves all the traditions that a family makes together. I want the pictures with Santa and the easter egg hunts and all that stuff. I had hoped for years to be able to do these things with my kids and finally that time has come. And it's just beginning. There are so many more memories to be made. It's just wonderful. Anyway - what we did tonight, as you can see by the picture, is make a gingerbread house. The babies weren't much help this year. This time it's Caden's gingerbread house. He had lots of fun and he ate lots of icing and candy. He didn't know what the icing was at first. Justin had to force him to taste it but once he'd had some.... we'll you can see for yourself.

Yay Stamps, I guess

I'm going to go nap right away but I thought I'd write a quick post since it's been a few days. Once again the boys are doing well and things are plugging along. My parents left and we were sad to see them go. I'd gotten used to them being here! Luckily though Justin's parents came that same night and now Judy is with us for the week. Thank goodness! That's why I'm able to go nap :). Last night was rough. The boys got onto different eating schedules somehow and they were up one at a time, every hour or less, all night. All the other nights they would eat at the same time. Today I intend to get them back on the same schedule. And there was entirely too much 'red' in my house yesterday and not enough green. Oh well. I guess it's nice for everyone to get a turn. Grandpa Jack (from Calgary) took some pictures (oh - and all the shirts came from them, by the way - blame them!) that I thought I'd share. But don't worry. I will soo

My big boys

The health nurse came by today to weigh the boys for us. I thought I'd put some pictures up too. Here's Dylan. He was 6 lbs when he was born and today he weighed 6 lbs 6.5 oz. YAY!! Here's Evan. He was 5 lbs 4 oz when he was born and today he weighed 5 lbs 9.5 oz. He's doing well. He's eating better than he was and will cry when he's hungry now. Just a little sheep sound though "baaa". It's pretty cute. This is Liam. He weighed 4 lbs 14 oz at birth and now he is 5 lbs 6 oz. He used to be 6 oz smaller than Evan and now there is only 3.5 oz difference. Way to go Liam!! He's still the squirmiest and definately cries when he's not happy. None of them really cry much though. All three cuties: And the big guy. He's 32 lbs, in case you were wondering :). He really loves the babies and loves to play with them, especially when they are awake. He brings them toys and talks to them. I love it!

More decorating

I did some more decorating over the past couple of days and our house is looking very festive! I was even able to do dishes, laundry, clean the bathroom and sweep and mop the kitchen while the babies slept this morning. And I loved it. Who'da thought I'd love housecleaning. It'll pass don't worry! Now I'm eating lunch a little early b/c the babes will be waking soon to eat. It's all in the planning :) I'm even trying to potty train Caden. He's goes sometimes but we haven't been helping him remember at all. So - today I've put him on more often and will keep trying to do that. I don't think it'll take much once we're back to being consistent. I'm just wondering if consistency can ever really happen? I guess we'll see.... I got 80% of my Christmas shopping done - thank goodness. I was worried it wouldn't happen but with my parents here I was able to get out and get some stuff done. Not much else to tell. The boy

It's Christmas time!!

Today was another great day. I was able to put up our Christmas tree and get a few gifts wrapped. YAY!! I love this time of year. We put Christmas music on and Caden even helped me. It was fun. Caden was really excited about it and thought the tree was really pretty. Caden playing with a musical decoration Lorraine came to visit for the afternoon and fed and changed a baby. Thanks Lorraine! :) Dylan and Liam were even awake for most of the visit which was nice. Sherry and the kids came in the evening. Here's Beth - so adorable. The 3 older kids had a blast together. Caden was so excited he was jumping up and down when they came. It was really nice to see all of them. Beth Caden loved playing with Beth. I think he'll be glad when his brothers can interact with him. Kieran and Caden spinning around in the chair Kieran spinning Caden and Lana around. They laughed and laughed. It was really special. So, ya, we all had another great day. I'm feeling a little tired

2 weeks old

Dylan, Evan and Liam are 2 weeks old today. I can't believe it's been two weeks already! They are still doing well. They seem to be focusing more on our faces and are starting to wake up on their own and to stay awake a little longer, not much but a little. I'm still doing more and more every day and feeling fine; starting to feel more like myself. Justin is working right now and is a little tired from helping me during the nights sometimes. He's doing ok though. Caden was really whiny today and it makes me wonder if it's just a 2 year old thing or if he's finally melting down from all the changes. Hard to say... He's at gymnastics with his dad right now which is good. It's something just for him and something just with daddy. Oh and Justin is happy that the Stampeders won :(. And because I love my husband I thought I'd post this for his sake (even if it makes me feel a little sick inside): YYAAYY Stampeders!!!

Our Weekend

We had a really good weekend! James and Nicola and Maggie came for a few days to meet the babies, hang out and help out. It was fantastic (thanks for the enchilada's Nic!). Caden giving Maggie a ride in his dump truck Uncle James providing the push this time Maggie and Caden Auntie Nicola and Maggie Dylan and Evan holding hands Liam, Dylan and Evan Caden, the boys and Maggie Sunday morning we tackled going to church. It went pretty well (we still have help!!) and we weren't even late! I was happy to be there. It had been 2 months for me, plus it was nice to be out as a family of six! Wow! Heading to church sunday morning An attempt at a family photo. We'll try again :) And that sums up our weekend. The babies are still eating well. My parents have done the night shift for us a couple of times so I feel good and have gotten some rest. It won't be the same without the help but the days are going by well so far!

Early Morning Visitor and our new decorating scheme

Early this morning, just after we had gotten up, we heard a knock at the door and were happy to see Uncle Josh there! He was on his way through from Weyburn to Calgary and took the opportunity to meet his new nephews. It was so nice to see him! Here's a peek at our house's new look: This change table is in between our living room/dining room. It is incredible handy. It's our baby station. It's a change table, dresser and supply central. We just moved this crib out to the dining room for daytime naps. We have another one in our bedroom for night - time. Unless my parents are doing the 4 am feeding. They did that last night so Justin and I could sleep. It was great. Snoozing, all in a row Dylan's little toes Liam's cute little feet Still Liam (Evan was sleeping in his pj's - didn't want to disturb him)
