lazy blogger

I haven't been very motivated to blog lately. I apologize for the long stretch of nothing this time. We've been busy. Justin is working a lot. We've had tonnes of company - almost everyday over the past 3 weeks (except that past couple of days) which is more fun than blogging! It's almost impossible to get on the computer without the kids trying to type. I get their 2 hour nap but haven't been using that for computer time. I do work around the house, spend time with Caden and read a little. I've been sick the past few days so haven't blogged and haven't been able to get outside in this warmer weather yet. The little kids are so much fun right now. Absolutely adorable and so busy. They play with each other a lot more. They are growing up so much. They eat up at the table with us now. They play in the basement with Caden and his big kid friends. They try to make us laugh by being silly. They help clean up ( a very little bit). They wrestle

A good life

I am living a really great life. And now I'm finally rested enough to appreciate it! Here are some pictures from the past few days. On the weekend I got to go to a shower for Lorraine and Jonas. He is SO sweet and I am so glad he is here. It was fun to be with a bunch of girls for the afternoon too! me and Jonas Andrea with Lena (Reid) Lena and Crystal Mama Lorraine If that wasn't nice enough I got to spend the rest of the weekend with Sara and Megan. We had a really nice few days together. And Liam got some extra TLC :) I wonder how long it'll be cute to watch the boys wrestle? It made me smile because it was the first of what will no doubt be a regular activity. And there is likely no way to prevent that I guess. First Evan tried to keep Caden down but Caden put up a good fight. He is older and bigger after all.. The next thing you know - Dylan is in the pile and doing a little damage himself He's not letting his age and size hold him down :) Yikes - don'

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well, we tried to trap a leprechaun again but I forgot to take pictures this year. We did a trap that falls open on top when the leprechaun steps on it. He's sure to step up on it because we put a rainbow cupcake and some coins on it. This morning we checked and sure enough - he was here - he left green footprints everywhere again - but he got away with his magical abilities. We missed him for the second year! Oh well. He was nice enough to leave the kids some green treats though. And they are all wearing green to celebrate this Irish holiday. We are Mooneys after all. Caden and I were able to go on a date this week. We went out to eat and then to the science center and just enjoyed some time with each other. It was so nice. He really liked sitting in the restaurant. Said that that was way better than eating in the van. What can I say - the kid hasn't been in a restaurant in about a year and a half. So - it was a real treat. I love talking to him when I'm ab

Yup, he's mine

Proof that Caden is definitely my child: C : "I really really want to go to the beach" Me: " I know, me too, but we can't go until summer. It's cold and snowy at the beach" C (with a frown): "It takes a reeeeaaalllllyyy long time" yes it does....

On the mend... I think

Well, the kids were still pretty sick all weekend but after their nap yesterday and a good sleep last night, they all have more energy and are a little more like themselves. They still have the runny noses but they have their bright eyes and big smiles back. We are absolutely going to get outside today and clear our heads. I wanted to get out this weekend but it just never happened. Can't wait for some fresh air! Even though he was sick, Evan still kept giving walking a try. I've been trying to get some video and I'll hope to put something up this week. He's so close but still won't commit to it. He has a couple of walking toys and I'm starting to think that I need to put them away so he is more motivated to walk. He uses them constantly because he wants to be upright but he's still not ready to completely walk all the time. Soon though I think!

This past week

All 4 kids are sick. They have coughs and occasionally, a slight fever. I think they are all on the mend now but I have turned into a walking kleenex box. It's gross how much snot can come out of those kids. Yikes! So - it's been a good week anyway but unfortunately the boys just haven't been themselves. Evan is back to waking up and crying in the night. I hope that goes away once they are better. Our worst sleeper now though - is Caden. What in the world!! He wakes up at 3 or 4 and calls out to us for one reason or another. Then he wants to get up at 6 and won't go back to bed very cooperatively when we tell him to. To finally have the little boys sleeping pretty good and to be getting up with Caden instead is a little frustrating. I confess that I'm not perfect mom with all the patience in the world. It's more like - WHAT! Go back to bed! Oh well. I'm sure it's just a phase. But really!

introducing...

Hello, my name is Jen and yes I am Canadian - especially proud to be at this moment in history. But when I say "introducing", I am referring to myself in a different way. Introducing Jen Mooney, who is back after a year and a half. You may think she was never gone but I know that I have not been 'myself' for a long long time. Sleep deprivation robs you of your mind, your physical strength and certainly your emotional strength (and for me none of those were too strong to start with). I have had no drive or ambition about anything. I have felt somewhat zombie like and besides the occasional 'good day', most of the time I felt like I was just barely makin' it. But my children have given me a gift. I also look at it as an answer to prayer, although like many of my prayers, a little later coming than I would have liked - hmm, maybe that means there were some lessons to be learned in there somewhere. Anyway. This is my long drawn out way of saying that
