I just wanted to write a little note about each of our boys. I'm going to start with Dylan.
At 18 months old Dylan still has such a wonderfully large and energetic personality. I'm sure he always will. And it is tempered with sweetness. He just loves us all so much. He gives us hugs. He'll give a hug or bring a soother to one of his brothers if they are sad. He loves to help. He puts his dishes in the sink, or other people's dishes. Any dishes he can find really! He still gets into a lot but if we tell him not to do something, he is the first one to listen. When we praise him for that, he just glows. If he gets into some sort of trouble he bursts into tears as if his little heart is broken.
He loves to run and to laugh. He's very coordinated and strong. He wants so badly to be one of the big boys. He follows them around and tries to do what they are doing. One example comes from a day when we were all outside. Caden and 2 of his buddies were having their snack at the big table outside and I'd put snack for the little boys on the small picnic table. Dylan got his, put it up on the big table, climbed up on a chair and joined the 3 big guys. It was cute and he was so happy to be sitting there.
He still likes to torment his brothers but they do it back. They are going to have to learn (and this goes for Caden too) that if you lay on the floor, Dylan will sit on you and not let you get back up! He likes playing with them though too. And they will often get to giggling together. It's that kind of stuff that just melts the heart.
Dylan loves to dance and does very crazy little moves when the music is going. He is just intense with desire to try everything. No matter what we do or what is going on, he wants to be right in there. It's like he is looking and looking for new experiences and new things to learn. I keep thinking of it as a real 'zest for life' and can't think of a better way to say it than that. He does like to come for hugs and a quick cuddle but he doesn't stay long! Like most kids he loves to find the phone or the remote. When he does, he grabs it and runs, knowing I'm not going to let him keep it.
He is trying to say words a little more now. He says "help" in a way only we recognize but he uses it in the right way. He's getting some more teeth these days. That's good because the kid loves to eat. He's not a picky eater at all. He's even gotten better at staying in his high chair while he's eating. If he's done eating though, he's done and ready to get right back at living life!
There are always so many things a person can say about another person and I'd probably never feel like I've included everything I could about our little boy. As I sit here and think about him and that twinkle in his eye, my heart if full right up to bursting. Dylan is a true blessing to us and I just can't wait to see more of who is going to become.
