Being Grateful and Another Rainy Day's Activities

Today started out as one of those days when I need to take a few minutes to count my blessings and give myself a few alotted pouting and whining minutes before I can move on into the day.  The blessings I am most focused on include the things that are not in my life.  I'm grateful that my husband isn't a soldier stationed away from home.  I'm glad that he doesn't work crazy shiftwork hours.  I feel blessed that his commute is 2 minutes from home to work, 5 if he stops for milk!  We are so lucky.  He has been working overtime this last week or so and worked most of the weekend.  There has been a lot of single parenting in my life lately (another gratitude moment - I'm NOT actually a single mom). And to start a monday morning, another day of monotonous rain ( I mean rain that I am grateful for because it makes everything green - that's what I'm supposed to say right?) with the kids after no break for days on end, felt daunting.  But we're up now and the day is moving along and I'm drinking my caramel latte with a generous amount of espresso.  We are having a pajama day and will probably pick a few more of the indoor activities on our summer list while we wait for that sun to come out.  We've gone through a lot of those indoor activities lately!  We chose a couple more of those yesterday since it was still so rainy.  Justin didn't go straight to work after church so we went to the science center and then to McDonald's Playplace for lunch.

This is what we were avoiding...

They are here. They are really really here!!!

It was a cool day. Almost too cold. The kind of cold that makes you rethink your very existence.... Boy. I am waaaay to tired for that. So I will give you the un-dramatic version. So, we are getting bombarded with requests for an update and pictures. So I will oblige and provide you with all the gory details. Actually, there are no gory details. In what can only be described as an amazing answer to many prayers, the new Mooney babies were brought into this world with no problems what so ever. We entered the hospital at 10:00 in the morning and were taken to the surgery room around 12:00 noon. At exactly 12:38, the first baby, Dylan Michael was born weighing in at 6 pounds even. Then, also at 12:38, Evan Timothy also charged into the world weighing in at 5.2 pounds. Then, at 12:39 Liam David was born weighing 4.8 pounds. For those of you good at math, that is a whopping 16 pounds worth of babies. 16 POUNDS!!! And even though them just being born at 36 weeks and 5 days isn...

Did you know?

So, did you know that exercising regularly can help you have more energy!? Okay, so did I. And did you know that eating healthily also helps with that? As does going to bed at a decent time at night? I guess we all know that but I haven't been good at acting like I know that. I was getting frustrated. I was just so tired in the evenings. I wasn't having the kind of quality time with my kids or my husband that I wanted. I didn't feel like going out with friends in the evening. I was okay during the day but that's not when I am with my people, for the most part anyway. Sometimes, I would fall asleep on the couch before my kids bedtime!! If I wasn't asleep, I was lethargic and unmotivated. Just not the me that I wanted to be. It doesn't sound like much, but I just couldn't stand wanting to be intentional but not having the energy to do the things that mattered to me. And my kids are 9,9,9 and 11. That's old enough that I can't use the...

Just the 6 of us now

I haven't blogged for a few days. It's been busy around here! But lots of fun. I'm feeling very tired tonight and will likely go to bed soon! We had a fun weekend with Justin's mom and Adam and Trinda and their kids. Trinda took some pictures for us again. Keep watching and I'll post some when I get them - it'll be a couple of weeks likely. Caden had SO much fun with his cousins, as he always does. They just go downstairs and we don't hear from them for a long time. Just some laughing and an occasional scrap. The triplets are eating ALOT and we're seeing them continue to fill out and get heavier. Things are going well. Justin's mom went home tonight so it's just the 6 of us this week. Justin is taking some holidays now. It'll be a nice time together. I'm looking forward to it but I know it'll be tougher now that our overnight help is gone. A baby is crying and Caden needs to be put to bed soon so I have to go.... Here ...
